Terms of Service
Last updated: October 22, 2026
These terms cover your use of Authenticator and its website. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
Using the app
Use Authenticator only for accounts you own or are authorized to manage. The app generates standard time-based one-time passwords; acceptance of a code is controlled by the destination service. Keep device time accurate.
Protecting access and backups
You are responsible for your device, PIN, setup secrets, exported files, and recovery key. Exports contain plaintext secrets. Local history depends on the original device key. We cannot reconstruct lost secrets or a lost recovery key, and cannot reset another service’s two-factor authentication. Keep the recovery methods provided by each service.
Optional services and availability
Cloud sync requires a configured service and valid authorization. Expiry stops syncing and new device enrollment; local code generation remains available. Availability may be affected by maintenance or connectivity. Device revocation stops future sync access but cannot erase secrets already downloaded to that device.
Release and purchases
Store download links will appear after public release. Subscription purchase screens and the Chrome extension are currently demonstrations, not available services. Any future paid offering will display its price, billing terms, and cancellation information before purchase.
Limitations
No security tool can guarantee uninterrupted access or eliminate every risk. We aim to maintain a reliable service but do not guarantee that it is error-free. These terms do not exclude rights or responsibilities that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Privacy and changes
Our Privacy Policy explains data handling. We may update the app and these terms as functionality changes, publishing the revised terms here with their update date.
